Exploration report prepared by the Geological Survey of Greenland in 1991
This report provides in condensed form all available information on the Jameson Land basin that can be helpful in assessing the petroleum potential of Jameson Land. This information can also be of value to explorationists interested in the North Atlantic region as a whole. The report introduces the area and deals briefly with geographical conditions, logistics, and exploration history before giving an outline of the geological development of the basin. The petroleum potential is discussed with special emphasis on source and reservoir rocks, conceptual play types (6 seismic examples) and thermal history (basin modelling). The report concludes with an overview of all available data from the basin. The report includes 24 figures in colour, 5 tables, and 11 enclosures which include two interpreted regional seismic lines, a geological and an aeroagnetic map of the area, depth structure and isopach maps of selected formations, and a list of available reports and references. The report is available from GEUS for the price of DKK 2000. Seismic data from Jameson Land acquired by ARCO from 1986 to 1989 are open file (see Fig. 6.6) and are also available from GEUS for the costs of reproduction.
